Why You Should Build a New Garage
If your home does not have a garage, you may want to consider building one. It can come in handy for a variety of reasons.
Although most homes today are built with a one as a part of the plans or a detached garage is added depending upon preferences, some are not.
Here are six good reasons you may want to consider building a new garage.
1. Storage
A garage can offer storage for items that you would not keep in your home or other items that you may not have room for in your home. Seasonal items can be stored safely, such as all your lawn and home decorations for Christmas.
Even your indoor Christmas decorations can be packed up and an area can be designated for them in the garage.
2. Better Insurance Deals
Insurance companies tend to offer better rates to automobile owners who park their cars inside a garage. It is safer than parking on the street, reducing the risk of theft and vandalism and the exposure to the elements on a daily basis.
Thus, the insurance company will often charge lower premiums for those who park inside.
3. Home Gym
If you are into working out, it can also be the perfect place to set up your equipment. It will be out of the way and you will have plenty of space.
Many people use their garage as a home gym which means that they do not have to pay the fees to join a gym, plus it offers unbeatable convenience. All they have to do is go to the garage for their workouts - it's literally on your doorstep!
4. Games Room
Many homeowners are using their concrete garage for a games room. It is perfect for a billiard table, ping pong and a variety of other activities that require space to play.
Adding wiring, heating and air conditioning and plumbing to it can make a great place for the whole family to enjoy spending time together for a variety of recreational activities.
5. Security
Of course, having a place to park out of the wind, rain, snow or other elements is a plus as well. Most garages have doors that open into the home so there is no need to be out in bad weather.
In addition, it can provide security for those who come home late at night.
6. Extended Shed Space
The garage is the perfect place to keep items that you need to care for your lawn such as lawnmowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and snow blowers if needed. This expensive equipment is protected from the elements and is also safe from would-be thieves.
Replacing these items can be expensive and if they are inside they are safer.
People who live in cold climates often store their lawn furniture inside during the winter months. It is also a terrific storage for children's bicycles and large ride-on toys to be put away after they are done with them.
Keeping them safe and secure until the next time they are ready to ride or play on them will ensure they are not at risk of being stolen.
